August 2, 2024

Air New Zealand’s preferred flight training partner, Nelson Aviation College, has signed an agreement to purchase aircraft from Infinitus Aero, so they can collectively reach their aviation sustainability goals to teach future pilots to ‘fly green’.

Nelson Aviation College provides top-tier aviation education to future pilots, with an environmentally responsible focus. This collaboration will ensure students benefit from training in electric aircraft using the latest technology and the opportunity to meet the demand for responsible practices within the global aviation industry.

Mr Barrie Rogers, CFO from Infinitus Aero signed an agreement with the CEO of Nelson Aviation College, Mr Giles Witney on 1st August to formalise this exciting collaboration for both businesses, where they will feature zero-emission electric propulsion systems in training programs from 2026.

The Australian based Infinitus Aero team are proud to launch a partnership with this New Zealand company, who will help provide the next generation of pilots to Air New Zealand, who is committed to providing a more sustainable way to connect people from around the world through air travel – and reach their goal of net zero carbon emissions by 2050.

The New Zealand Government are an active participant in the “Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation” (CORSIA) and have agreed to implement all requirements into their Civil Aviation Bill, to ultimately reduce carbon emissions within the international aviation sector.

The collaboration between Infinitus Aero and Nelson Aviation College will be the first of many partnerships with New Zealand organisations who share our passion for zero emissions, zero boundaries.
